What would the use of live view versus the view finder have to do with shutter count and or whether that count is accurate or not? Lohiu "John" edited this topic 41 months ago. I sometimes use these 2 sites too, just upload your latest photo and it will tell you the shutter count. You could also check here: /6/nikon-shutter-clicks/ open the image in Preview, go to Tools, then to Inspector and then scroll down until you see "Image number" This is on Mac how to check your shutter count, I forgot for PC When you say you "ran a shuttercount", could you describe what you did? As far as I know the only way to check is to look at the last image EXIF data. Rdubreuil edited this topic 41 months ago. Good luck and let us know how this turns out as others may have a similar issue and are unaware of it. One test you can perform is to make note of your current shutter count, then fire off a known number of frames in single shot mode and then re-check the frame count, if it is off, I'd contact Nikon service and inquire about it they may want you to send it in for diagnostics and possible repair. That's one of the reasons Nikon has the cap set for 200 frames at one time without removing your finger from the shutter release. The only other thing I can think of off the top of my head is have you put the camera into your bag with it still turned on and perhaps it somehow pressed on the shutter button firing off a bunch of clicks? In other words have you found a bunch of black frames at one point or another? Being as the D500 is very fast in both continuous high especially are you sure you're not squeezing of multiples of your images at 2 or 3 frames at a time due to finger lag on the shutter button? Personally I've had no such issue with my D500, my count is spot on.Īlso I haven't heard of an issue with shutter counts being off, also searched around for any reported issues and found none. ![]() I did check the shutter count when I got it new, to verify it was not a refurb. Has anyone heard of the shutter counts being wildly off? If so, please let me know. I am trying to work my way back to see where the problem began, but at frame 0500, it was close to correct (+/- 20 ), and by 6850 it was at 11757 frame count. That roughly 50% off, or 4500 frames over what it really has. Yesterday, I ran a shuttercount, just for the heck of it, and it gives me 14,500. I am stlil using the same 2 flash cards I started off with, and all of my files, both jpg, and RAW, are saved, except for some deletes. I started out new with file number 0001, and have run sequentially up to around 9000 frames shot. I purchased my D500 16-80mm kit brand new from a U.S. An explanation for that, I found here: ĮxifTool reports the EFCS setting under '-ElectronicFrontCurtainShutter'.Hi everyone, and thanks. If the "Electronic Front-Curtain Shutter” (EFCS) is set to OFF (which seems to be the default for the A77MII), the shutter will fire twice for each picture. Besides white-balance bracketing, as Phil mentioned correctly, HDR or panoramas, there is another reason for the camera to count the shutter twice: Analyzing my photos made by both cameras, I realized the A77M2 always counted at least double the number of actual images made. In spite of the fact that it took me some time to solve the issue, I agree 'ShutterCount' makes more sense! Suddenly, my program would report 0, so I tried debug without success, until I learned changed the name of the tag to 'ShutterCount' in Version 11.25(?). Not until recently, I found out some Sony cameras log the shutter count to the maker notes for my SLT A55V and ILCA-A77MII and ExifTool reports it as 'ImageCount'. I am left to wonder how people selling A7RIIs on Ebay are able to post a shutter count number. This is pretty strong indication that "image count" is at least something that increments with every exposure. Taking a look at the pictures in question, 387-389 are indeed the same building in a city, and then a change of scene to greenery coincides with 416. Sony_a7r_ii_zeiss_batis_25mm_65.txt Image Count: 416 Sony_a7r_ii_zeiss_batis_25mm_64.txt Image Count: 389 Sony_a7r_ii_zeiss_batis_25mm_63.txt Image Count: 388 Sony_a7r_ii_zeiss_batis_25mm_62.txt Image Count: 387 So running each via exiftool(-a -u -g1 -w txt -k).exe then searching the txt for "image count" we get nearly numerically ordered results: So we need to know, what is "image count"? Some minor detective work:Ĭhecking StarGeek's page to get Sony ARW files, I took four, & can see the page gives files that have a numerical order:
